Midnight Crystal

Transparent objects are one of artist, Kathryn Rutherford's, favourite subject matter. Painting them is often an extreme challenge to depict the outside form, the translucent reflections of light and colour yet, all the while, capturing the interior images and distortions of the objects that appear through the glass or reflect upon shiny surfaces.

Here, Kathryn chose treasured objects from her own china cabinet and created a still life full of rainbows of reflected colour and vibrancy.
