Navajo Shapeshifters
Artist, Kathryn Rutherford, spent many years living and studying in Arizona where she became entranced with the cultures, traditions, and beliefs of Native American tribes.
"Navajo Shapeshifters" is a true Spirit Painting. According to Navajo Legend, a skinwalker is a medicine man or witch who has attained the highest level of priesthood in the tribe, who, after putting on the skinned fur of an animal, has the ability to turn into, possess, or disguise themselves as that animal.
Here, we see the transformation of man into wolf and woman into black panther.
Before beginning this work of art artist, Kathryn Rutherford, had many conversations with her close Native American friend who's Grandmother has seen many Shapeshifters throughout her lifetime.
What cannot be seen via the internet is that this painting also contains the signature "extra" of having had a three-dimensional compound applied to the highlights that gives the subject matter more realism and distinguishes the original from all reproduction prints.
