Oh, to be Sailing

Spirit Paintings transform the stories of ordinary lives into fine art masterpieces. Here is a portrait of the artist, Kathryn Rutherford, drinking tea from her Great Grandmother's tea cut as she gazes out onto Lake Erie, where she was raised, and watches the sail boarders enjoying their day in the sun.
But wait! Appearing out of the shadows are the transparent images of her Great Grandparents, Edward Francis Ives and Anna Barbara Schmid-Ives. As one of the last tall ship sailors on the Great Lakes, Great Grandfather dreams of once again heading out across the water on the ship he sailed, in 1883, the Maple Leaf.
