Antique stores hold a special fascination for artist, Kathryn Rutherford, because many of her personal treasures or painting subject matter can be found in the hidden corners and shelves of such places.

Where many artists paint such a window from the outside looking in, Kathryn reversed the scene and allows the viewer to see what curious children might find when they peer into the inner recesses of an antique store window. But, wait!! Who is looking back, and are reflected in the window glass, but two family pets. Tails, a leash-trained Maine Coone that travelled in the car with Kathryn is tucked in a corner behind suitcases and many visitors to Heirloom Art Studio will remember Socks, the Gallery Cat, who spent her days greeting customers and begging for attention.

What cannot be seen via internet is the addition of a three-dimensional compound added to all the highlights that give this painting dimension that distinguishes the original from all reproductions. This 3D highlight effect has to be seen to be believed, particularly in this exquisite painting of multiple types and surfaces of glass and crystal.
